SAA lifts Trophy Cargo Embargo, minority dictating over the majority again here in South Africa?

(Update:  there is a petition to South African  Airways here: (just click)  Petition SAA  - please be sure  that after you sign it you share it on so others are aware of it. Thanks)
(Updated post)

We are disturbed to hear the news that South African Airways  have lifted the trophy hunting cargo embargo

Once more here in South Africa , just like in the  days of Apartheid,  the wishes and wants of a MINORITY are deemed more important than the MAJORITY .

The majority of people in this world do NOT hunt. The majority of airline passengers are NOT hunters.

Following the overturn of South African Airway's trophy hunted cargo embargo, SCI  (Safari Club International) President  Larry Higgins said: 'Pandering to anti-hunting zealots may seem “progressive,” but the airlines are effectively allowing anti-hunting groups to impose their agenda on all paying customers'

Oh  the arrogance of Larry! Thus what he is effectively saying is that it is fine for the  airlines  to effectively allow the hunting groups 'zealots' to impose their agenda on all paying customers, of which hunters are the minority, and the non hunting passengers (pax) who are opposed to hunting (pax) a majority?

PHASA (Professional Hunters Association South Africa) CEO Adri Kitshoff said Phasa’s efforts to overturn the embargo ( which had been effected on April 21 ) through the direct negotiation" with SAA and the department of environmental affairs "had finally paid off" - (yes... one must wonder if  'paid off' literally)

In a company memo distributed July 20, 2015 to all terminal managers  the
Manager of Compliance and Foreign Operations Lerato Mophethe writes, "Since the placement of the embargo SAA Cargo has been engaging with the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) on the issue. We decided to review the embargo after the DEA gave us assurance that additional measures will be put in place to ensure compliance with all the required permits and documentation. Further note that all such trophies shall be liable for physical and documentary inspection by the relevant nature conservation authorities as they deem fit.''

The memo also states: ''the embargo that was placed on selected hunting trophies namely; elephant, rhino, lion and tiger has been lifted with immediate effect and the DEA will be implementing their additional measures."

See for yourself:

Feel free to make contact with the above

Remember how so many people rushed to thank this airline when they placed the embargo? Time to rush back and SPEAK OUT

No doubt people will wonder if pockets will be getting lined, no doubt SCI will have had a hand in this sudden change of mind.

This decision of SAA is as one angry person (Paul) says:
'' unethical, unprofessional and relies on nothing but the promises of a government which is all out to promote hunting of wildlife .. wildlife we can ill afford to lose.''
he goes on to say:
''You place yourself in a vulnerable position to the countless instances of wildlife part trafficking and misdeclared goods, that may result in more fines being laid against you.
Making such decisions is based on the position of a few, not the many who will fill your seats. ''

We agree with Paul.. Will we hear chanting of ' ''hell no we won't go, we'll book with another airline you know!! '' ?  we hope so!

We at WWNBSAH want to remind you again that hunters are the MINORITY not the MAJORITY in this world.

Please will the MAJORITY join us in standing UP and speaking out! Thank you.

Please share this post  to your Facebook, Twitter , email and other social media and also start contacting SAA   by all means possible to you (politely - swearing and name-calling will not make them listen) to state your case.

  1. Thank you for the heads up. I am totally disgusted . We (wife and I ) were planning to book 4 seats in business class with SAA for October for the family to go to a wedding and sister's 40th birthday, and had also planned to go First Class for our own 10th wedding anniversary in February. SAA just kissed goodbye to a LOT of our money! We will now book with another airline. We will not fly with airlines who support trophy hunting! I will also speak with the agent who looks after our corporate travel and instruct her we will not be using SAA for any of our company/staff business flights, effective immediately!
